Royal Austrlian Air Force F1-11 sinks North Korean Drug Ship

After being caught trying to smuggle drugs into Australia the Pong Su was sunk by two 2000-pound (900 kg) laser-guided bombs dropped from an RAAF F-111 aircraft. The deliberate destruction of the freighter was said to deliver a strong message to international drug smuggling rings that the Australian Federal Government would take all measures necessary to stop illegal drug importation.

    It was incorporated into a military exercise (PR purposes). As for the ship (war on drugs) a drop in the ocean.

  • This is not a solution to win the "War on Drugs". The capturing of the smugglers and the sinking of the ship has simply made another drug smugglers business more profitable. It is, after all, a demand driven industry - this is why the actual availability of illegal drugs on the street largely remains unchanged.   • The story goes that the ship was confiscated for drug smuggling, then, prepped as a target ship. No one was on it. Funny how tid bits of information would lead one to believe that they straight up attacked it.
