This is an e-mail I got from Moveon.org. Now we know why liberals are clueless about the issues. Their leaders simply lie.
And how about the new "Medical Industrial Complex"?
Yes, we should listen to Robert Reich. After all, he and Larry Summers were the White House point men under Clinton who oversaw the market deregulation that made the housing bubble possible.
And Reich is wrong that a handwritten letter is better than an e-mail or phone call. Since the anthrax scare a few years ago, all mail to Congress is screened, and it sits bottled up in mail rooms for a couple weeks. People who send regular letters guarantee that their mail doesn't arrive on time for many votes.
The NBC/Wall Street Journal survey found that 48 percent support a government-run plan to compete with private insurers and 42 percent oppose it -- the strongest support ever in the survey.
Then last week, new polls, one from The Washington Post and ABC News and the other from the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation, found clear majority support (57 percent) for a public option.
Quoted comment by SpinBoldak: Thanks for posting. But, what exactly was the lie?
Lie 2: " Big Insurance and Big Pharma don't want these reforms"
"The health insurance industry, which had been taking a relatively tempered approach to health care legislation, has stepped up its opposition to the overhaul efforts as it has become clear that the final product will not be to its liking," Roll Call reports. America's Health Insurance Plans "has started running television spots in 10 states, including the home state of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), warning senior citizens that their benefits could be slashed." AHIP also "blasted" Reid's decision to include a public option in Senate health legislation (Roth, 10/28).

yes, I need more.
Your first quote said 48% want the public option...ie that a majority of United States citezens?
Your second quote, like moveon, sited ONE source as if that is the absolute truth, which it is not. Do you want government run health care? The public option is designrd to compete with a profit based system that employees people and pays taxes on the profits those companies earn, and the Federal government will run a buisness subsidised by tax payer money, much like the DMV, USPS, and many other Federal programs, eventually taking all profits from the insurance providers due to the lack of needed profit to sustain a viable business since we the taxpayers will cover any losses...then we no longer have a competing system...just one...the "FREE" government system. The government decides what a MD gets paid. The Feds decide what a x-ray tech gets paid. The feds decide what care you get if you are fat. The feds decide what care you get if you are a smoker. The feds decide what care you get if you drink alcohol. THE FEDS DECIDE EVERYTHING!
I am not comfortable with the feds choosing for me. You may be comfortable with that, and if that is your choice you need no health care coverage in the first place...We already have that...it is cakked Medicaid.
Grow up, get a job, pay your own way and quit asking your neighbors to pay your bills....if you get into trouble, we will help you but you must be prepared to help yourself...we don't want to do EVERYTHING for you.
Yes, I am a capitalist, and I truly believe that if I work harder than others and produce stuff for society, I should reap the rewards that comes with my efforts.

Lie 1: "the majority of US Citzens support a public option"
Then last week, new polls, one from The Washington Post and ABC News and the other from the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation, found clear majority support (57 percent) for a public option.
The other quote, which cites 47% for still outweighs the opposition at 42%.
You have disparaged my sources without providing any of your own.
I like your example of the USPS. If I want cheap, I go to the post office. If I need it overnight, I go to FedEx. I have choices.
It seems the whole thing needs a reform, to me. Pay, insurance, lawsuits, etc. My premiums go up faster than my capitalist-based pay does. It needs fixing, and the insurance companies and hospitals aren't going to fix anything.

Truth doesn't fit the agenda.
Everything is proceeding according to plan.
