Few things they failed to do was come up with a plan for the break off and follow it. Looking at it looks like his partner hit him, which means there was not enough separation. That was due too the failure to turn and track away at break off height. Line twists are a nuisance and can normally be kicked out. On some small canopies they can't and you do need to get rid of it but if it was a 260 that's pretty big and they are normally docile which are less prone to radical. With them both wearing More..

@BUDBEAR one reason they should have turned and tracked at break off time to give better separation. The guy flying into him should have seen him and taken evasive action, he would have had more time if theyr had tracked . Can only assume target fixation which is quite common for newer jumpers.

@BUDBEAR Yes, they should have turned 180 degrees to each other and then tracked off(way of driving forward in freefall)which means they put as much distance between each other as possible before deploying a canopy (parachute) at opening.
