  • I stopped watching TV about a year ago, & don't miss it at all.
    I obviously stopped paying my TV licence too. You wouldn't believe all the letters & threats about court action etc I've had through the mail.
    I have no intention of paying for a TV licence ever again.
    PS. Detector vans don't exist, it's just propoganda.

  • BBC Licence not TV licence, fucking cunts trying to change our perception to believing that we have to actually have a licence for our TV's whilst in reality it's nothing more than a forced subscription of the BBC Corporations channels the only reason they called it a licence is because the BBC used to be the British TV, now it's not even 1/100th of the content on the TV and still it demands its licence fee!!!! Absurd!!!!

    Little known fact that some people may not know, it's in the small print.

    Even if you don't have a TV but have a PC connected to the internet 'you have a device capable to receiving televisual broadcasting - live or catch up!' you still have to have a TV licence for a PC with an internet connection.

    Now isn't THAT a fucking bastards trick too! Most TV is fucking shit and I got my cable TV switched off as I didn't watch the shit in about 6 months as there's nothing worth More..

    • @Random Well, that too but even if you decide 'I've fucking had it with TV, I'll never EVER watch it again and stick to the internet!' You still have to pay as they broadcast the BBC 24 channel live over the internet somewhere, regardless of whether you chose to watch or not!!

    • @Reggie_P75 That's not true. You only need a TV licence if you actually use your PC to watch TV programmes as they are being broadcast. You do not need a TV licence just for a PC & internet connection.

      But you DO need a TV licence for a device that is..

      'CAPABLE OF STREAMING LIVE TV'

      over your broadband connection.

      That means your PC, tablet & console. This is a rotten bastards trick that was rewritten for the people who decided to just get a PC TV card and also covered TV companies who decided to stream live sporting events, news and other stuff.

      They did have the equipment and the concept DID work but they didn't have the required power to actually make it mobile in the 'TV detector van' threat they propelled onto the nation.

      They could pick a TV signal from a test house from another test house but that was because they were using mains power. They didn't have the power to take it mobile.

  • The truth was the license van often had no equipment inside and just had antennas on the roof due to a lack of funding. They'd just drive around so that people would worry and go out and buy a license.
