Itsounded like a .50 cal or a .338 Lapua sniper rifle. The range was too far for typical small arms and i guess a sniper rifle was the only thing they had that could possibly reach that far. Notice the flight time of the round. Takes a lot of kentucky windage to compensate at that distance. Itwas a 3 second flight time. Damn that's far. I looked it up and the range was likely between 1800 and just over 2000 yards, on moving targets, with wind. They could have hosed with a 7.62 LMG and used bino More..

Yeah, I think it's between 1.7 - 1.8 km, notice the GAU's impacts and the sound arriving. Interestingly, not all rounds are tracers, so I'm thinking .50 cal, some kind of combat mix put together for a M2.

@blacklama a M2 has single shot, but itwould cycle. You can hear them working a bolt. Might be a .50 sniper rifle shooting ammo taken from a M2 belt and a occasional tracer tossed in by the guy loading from the side after each shot. the mag was long empty and whan the sniper pulled the bolt the spotter dropped in another round. That's how we did it. Once upon a time I was a Marine Scout/Sniper. I look atthings different than a neophyte.

@2Crazy4U Obama has announced he is shitcanning 5 squadrons of A-10s. Too effective at killing his Muslim brothers and he wants to make sure they don't hurt any of his Iranian friends. All the pilots will be put on the street to make sure they are unavailable for current or future needs.

To be fair it should be mentioned that there is only one active squadron among those five. This will increase the combat readiness of the rest of the squadrons.
Also it's to make sure there is enough capacity for the F-35.
And unmanned missions will also greatly increase.

@blacklama Almost all A-10 sqd's have been ANG since the 80's. They still deploy, and have many times. The fast movers are active duty. It was planned that way
