When Scott Walker recently got "pranked" by a left-wing blogger into thinking he was talking to Billionaire capitalist David Koch, it opened a very public window into the way billionaire capitalists put politicians in places of high power and then use their influence to affect policy and advance corporate interests.
Walker was recently contacted via telephone by a man claiming to be David Koch..... What followed was a 20 minute phone conversation, with Walker candidly explaining his entire strategy and laying out his intentions to break the Wisconsin public employees unions to the fake Koch.
At many points in the conversation, the Wisconsin Governor sounded like a field commander briefing a high ranking superior on current field intelligence; offering a highly detailed and (one would think) privileged view of the Governor's entire strategic blueprint.... including an elaborate plan to trick Democrat Senators into coming back to the State in a ruse that would allow Republican Senators to declare the Senate to be in session, establish a quorum and vote without the Democrat's knowledge.
The truly astounding part about this amazing story isn't the detailed inside-information afforded to the public... or even the way an elected state governor kowtows to a billionaire capitalist and campaign financier.
No.... the truly amazing thing about this story is that Walker now claims that he has never even met either of the Koch Brothers.... and only recently became aware of who they were.
This is despite the fact that they financed the Tea Party movement that swept Walker into the Governor's Mansion and personally contributed $43,000 to Walker's campaign.
This is also despite the fact that Walker has recently awarded the Koch Brothers' energy corporation huge no-bid contracts for energy production in the state of Wisconsin.
Yes.... it seems perfectly reasonable that Governor Walker spent 20 minutes on the phone (having a detailed conversation in which he revealed highly privileged and sensitive information regarding his administration's strategies) with someone whom he has never met and who, until recently, was only vaguely aware of.
I believe that Governor Walker has potentially overplayed his hand on this one, when he claims to have never met either of the Koch brothers. It leaves the fact finders and left-wing bloggers with only one dot to connect in order to prove him a liar.
I predict it will not take very long before some proof or other will emerge to connect Walker with the Koch brothers and and show him for the corporate lapdog, teabagging, sycophant, douchebag liar he is.
We'll see.
