Some people are distrustful of government on a truly intellectual level, and I respect that. But it's misguided to base a political movement purely on that principle. Such a movement is essentially advocating nothing more than a political vacuum, which will inevitably be filled by other interests, hence the paranoid weirdos and gay bashing religious types.

Pretty much, this would explain 80 % of the retards running around this site calling themselves conservatives. You know who they are, people who whine about big government the most, then want government to step in on social matters.

I was born and raised in a Republic, where the 99 % cannot take away the rights of the 1 %. Not a democracy where 51 % can take away the rights of the 49 %.

Goldwater was the first candidate I supported, though underage to vote. I watched the whole campaign, especially the convention, and was hooked on Goldwater. LBJ did a serious injustice with his Daisy Ad (link below), which was the epitome of dirty politics.
