Racing slicks would be BETTER in that condition, the only issue with them is if the road is wet. I have experience with my E46 M3 on slicks on the streets of the Bay Area, all bad.

@mphatik To an extent, slicks do not do well with a surface that has no rubber in it, especially when that rubber is not the same compound, it also works the other way with street tires, they do not do well in area with built up rubber in the surface, ie a dragstrip.
