A man died after being trapped underneath a bus on a busy Black Country road today.

The tragedy happened as the victim was crossing Castle Hill, Dudley, outside Gala Bingo.

Witnesses said it appeared he had got off one bus and was crossing the road towards Dudley Zoo at 6.30am as he was knocked down by another.

He became trapped underneath the front wheel and horrified passers-by alerted the emergency services.

Paramedics battled to save the man’s life while firefighters from Dudley attemped to free him from under the bus.
