  • Great man and pilot, just not that great on corners.

  • I've seen worse crashes where the 'pilot' gets out and walks away.

Wonder what the difference was here?

  • Can't tell if some of you are trolling or have shit for brains.

Watch the slow motion footage: sparks under front left wheel arch before corner, likely suspension collapse. Hence why the car went straight and didn't even attempt to turn.

That was a heavy impact, all the force of the car was ground to a halt in the space of 5m, massive g's. It wasn't the worst "looking" accident but being in that cockpit would have proven otherwise.

    • @Mohonky - Nice spot, I agree with your comments but it's not uncommon for these cars to ground at speed.

That said you are 100% correct about the impact, any time you hit a natural wall like that the car digs in, it doesn't slide as it would against concrete or a guardrail. That makes the impact that much worse. It doesn't look bad but when you add all that up the Gs alone probably would have been fatal.

    • @GlobalReach If you look at the footage, around 21sec you can see he actually has some lock on the front wheel, so he is definitely steering into the corner but the car is definitely not responding which is why I am led to believe the suspension has collapsed and is not pushing the wheel into the road.

Having said that you are right, these cars would certainly ground out on a street circuit like this but the car doesn't really look like it's moving about on it's suspension, it should have at s More..

    • @Mohonky - I see it now, thanks. Totally agreed some kind of suspension failure. It is a real shame.

  • If you look very closely at the left front tire of the car when it goes by, @0:20 and @0:21, I think I see sparks coming off the rim. So maybe this guy had a flat or some other suspension failure.

    Whatever the case, RIP.

  • If this never happened nobody would watch motor sport.

Don't want to die young? You can reduce your risk by not driving at break-neck speeds in cars.

  • "A bullet in full speed and crashed into the mountain." Alfonso Tesoriere has broken voice when he tells the tragic accident on Sunday that claimed the lives of Georg Plasa, the German of 51 years who was competing in the 50° edition of the Rieti-Terminillo, uphill race valid for the European Championship and the CIVM, with BMW 134 V8 Judd.

Tesoriere, acclaimed director of 118 of Rieti, managed to see the impressive effects of accidents : "I saw the footage of the incident - Dr. More..
