Safe Mode: On
Empire of debt leading to a ‘crack-up’ in global monetary system!

As we head into the last few days of the presidential race, we ask Bill
Bonner, bestselling author and founder of Agora Financial what he thinks
the biggest issues on the electoral agenda should be. We also ask about
other litmus tests that might give us a better sense of where the US is
headed. What does he look at, and how important is an indicator like
GDP in telling us how well our economy is doing? And prices for
gasoline, soda, hotel rooms, and batteries have risen sharply in areas
affected by Superstorm Sandy. With inefficiencies created by long lines,
Lauren and Demetri discuss if there is a case for price gouging in
today's Loose Change. They also discuss the usefulness of a ‘Business
Tsar’, and why president after president feels the need to intervene in
the market in order to help the very businesses that his policies are
hurting.

  • Bill Bonner could learn a thing or two from Warren Buffett and his GNP to Wilshire 5000 indicator which answers the problem he proposed regarding the GDP. In any event, you're not going to see him on CNBC or Bloomberg anytime soon.

    • @Templeton I think what he was trying to say is that the numbers used to gauge the economy's health by other media outlets use these numbers which are usually flawed or misleading. Bonner does have some unpopular ideas which you won't see anywhere else. She had Lew Rockwell on the other week.

    • @boomersooner definately something you wont see on msnbc. I dont like RTs political comentary but atleast the economists are honest. Our debt will bury us. There was a guy talking about these very issues. America chose to bury its head in the sand give the politicians the keys and watch it go to hell. How about some more shovel ready stimulus. a few more trillion borrowed will save us. Go borrow a few more grand to get a bigger house then finance a lavish vacation. Dont worry your elected offic More..

    • @crazedcountryrebel

The MSM has been at war with this republic for years. I really don't get it to be honest. Are they brainwashed? Communist/socialist by nature? Constantly towing the lies and misconstruing the actual truth. Painting the skeptics of all of this debt/stimulus/bailouts as "nuts". I mean seriously...sheesh

      Peace!

  • Beginning not to COMPLETELY hate RT...I mean, I kind of thought the same questions when taking Econ in college..

Why do we allow a central bank? a bank connected to the monetary policy of the nation...not the smartest idea...

One purpose of governance is to coin currency to allow for economic harmony..but how do you get free-market harmony when your money has a "policy" and debt is created with every dollar printed??
