End The Afghanistan War - New Poll

Via The New York Times: "After a series of violent episodes and setbacks, support for the war in Afghanistan has dropped sharply among both Republicans and Democrats, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll. The survey found that more than two-thirds of those polled — 69 percent — thought that the United States should not be at war in Afghanistan. Just four months ago, 53 percent said that Americans should no longer be fighting in the conflict, more than a decade old...".* The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks it down.

  • We killed Bin Laden along with around 200,000 jihadi extremists, we did what we came to do...there is no use trying to stay and 'civilize' that place, it will never happen.       Many people originally supported a quick invasion,the US should have gone in kicked ass and got the fuck out, instead your dumbass military leaders decided that long term nation building was a good idea and now what could have been a successful mission has become a miserable failure.

  • The Canada Forces pulled out - we still have a few hundred police and military advisors but ... I don't think most Afghans care. Other NATO forces would love to leave too.

    After a NATO withdrawal, the Taliban will probably return to power so . . . opium will become cheap again but I don't think Muslim attacks in the West will increase. They haven't stopped during the war and no one can prove they will increase so - pull out and save money. Afghan President Karzai lost my respect years ago.

  • The US left as soon as the Russians left and we got the Taliban and Al-Qaeda. the same thing will happen if we left too early this time.

    The major instigator here is Iran, who is funding, training and supporting trainees to the Taliban. Two more years - finish it right this time.
