New Delhi: Last week, a boy from Bihar was allegedly beaten to death by the workers of Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, who attacked north Indians appearing for railway recruitment exam in Mumbai.
However, in a major twist to the case, CCTV footage released by the Mumbai Railway authority shows that the boy, Pawan, died when he slipped off platform 1 while waiting to board a local train at the Andheri station.
The footage contradicts Railway Minister Lalu Prasad's claims that Pawan was killed by MNS workers.
Pawan's death and the attack on other candidates like him triggered off week-long protests in Patna.
The Railway authority says Pawan was waiting for a local train on platform No. 1 of Andheri station. Pawan's examination centre was in Bhayandar.
