      I met a guy from New Jersey who had come to Memphis like a lot of young people back then just to kick around for a while.

    • Very true that other people can get you in trouble, without you even knowing. I have a buddy that recently had a gal he knew from high school, ask him to cash her pay check for her, being the nice guy he is, he did. Well the check was bad, and a 3,000 dollar check to boot.     • I know ...so time there is not justice at all...seem like the police and the judge is more interested to put you in jail than anything else....

      since the jail system become to be privatized for a while ago .....you can not but wonder who is really financing the vacation or " in private resorts congress" of those cops and judges...

    • In my case it was just dirty, cold blooded cops who apparently thought it was funny to mess with a naive southern country boy.
      When the prosecutor finally got around to my case he had me released immediately and taken to his office.
      He was not only infuriated by what had been done he nearly had tears in his eyes while apologizing.
      He said I should never have been locked up and based on his attitude I suspect he did something about it.

    • I hope it works out for your buddy.
      There are pricks in the criminal justice system but most are fair and dedicated to justice.
      In my case the cops were just having some extremely cruel fun at my expense and to tell the truth, when they told me I would get twenty years, one year for each dollar, I was naive enough to believe them and it scared me to death.
      That was before prisoners were segregated by violent or non violent crimes and I was locked up with some very rough people.
