  • The sheer brutality of this event and the lack of U.S./coalition intervention as it compares to Iraq and Afghanistan cannot be taken lightly. It's good to see they are healing as best they can. It's also good to see a positive news story despite it's horrible backdrop.

  • I covered this war for French television. The people thought they were safe in the churches, but instead they ended up being easier to find and murdered.

It was almost 12 years before I could figure out how to talk about what I had seen. I felt as though I shouldn't burden anyone.

That's all I have to say about that....
    There's a confession for you.

The UN watched it happen right infront of them. Are we expected to do everything? Besides we would just get more shit from the international community and anti war people if we did try to help.

No, but we all know the U.N. is a waste of time. They are highly suspect...I am not blaming America, the whole world relatively ignored it.

  • Tragic what happened....They do seem to be coping very well for the pain and grief they must feel. Would be hard for me to forgive someone that killed my father or brother.

    Interesting post Las

  • Good post, we have a lot to learn from how things went down there and the somewhat unique healing process the nation has adopted. If only the UN had the teeth and speed to deal with genocide.

Though intervening because of overwhelming evidence of innocent civilian genocide is different from, say, the bs we were fed about Iraq. America has seemed to use military action far more to change governments we dislike than for humanitarian assistence. I agree the US shouldn't be relied on as the sole cop of the world either way.

  • Why stick your nose in their business. what concern is it of yours? Do you care what happens in your own neighborhood?
Let Africa develop like the rest of the world did, through wars, oppression, genocides, with one side winning over another. Just like the west did it, over the millenium.
