Good things Brzezinski did:
normalization of relations with the People's Republic of China
the signing of the second Strategic Arms Limitation Treaty SALTII
the brokering of the Camp David Accords
encouraging dissidents in Stalinist Eastern Europe
Bad things:
the arming of the mujaheddin in Afghanistan
Four out of five isn't bad.

Your "what he did wrong" list is right and the value of and his contribution to, the "things right list" is overstated.
When he and the Carter admin were at the helm the US reached a low point in "super power" status.

I can't argue with that "super power" status decline.
I will say that Brzezinski reminds me much of Kissinger. More hawkish than I would expect from an Envoy hired by Obama.

Interesting. I'd call it an adminstration (like the last one Zbiggy was associated with) happy to "lead" with an excess of naivite and limited understanding of the aims of America's very real enemies.
