He's 50 and been collecting since 87, the sets range from the 50's to the 80's and many are of Russian design, the big one at the bottom is the of the first model constructed in China and the little black one in the middle is his favourite.

I know a modest local military radio collector that has much more radios. I cannot imagine how many would a serious American or European collector may have, so I don't know why this newspiece has hit the Internet.
Having said that, collecting vintage army radios is pretty cool.
