To be fair I have experienced this cultural difference so many times with English and American men and women.
A French woman will always expect to be kissed when greeted. However we understand that people from Anglo countries are not familiar with this custom so its not a big deal for us.

His European "Apology tour" has turned out to be an incredible public relations disaster. This person has no idea of protocol. Its an embarresment. And this was the guy who criticized Americans for not speaking a foreign language. At least I know well enough that if a hot french woman wants to plant me a kiss, so be it!!
