  • Loved it. A very powerful statement. I wish they had included the "Evil Empire" speech and more of the UN speech.

Prez Reagan helped to free tens of millions around the world. A fact most may have forgotten, but I never will.

    VOTED and FAV'd

  • Well done.
    Great post.

I have heard knuckleheads who see those same facts, and conclude that the US did not win the cold war, the Soviets just decided to leave, so the Soviets are the winner.

I wonder, if by that logic, those same folks will logically conclude that the US won the vietnam war? I mean we just decided to leave there too.

I doubt it. Consistancy has never been a sticking point for those on the far left.

  • I only hope and pray that the United States of America can one day have another President like Reagan. Our leaders are fools and are not looking out for the American People but just for themselves. I Love My Country but Hate my Government.

    • @PimeTaradox Yup...or when we were friends with iraq in the 80's and in bed with the saudi's.

      Of course let's overlook that.

Reagan's dead man he's not coming back. Fuck off I say.

Reagan would of been the first to bailout the banks and the car mfgs. Because he came from a corpo background to begin with

  • You are citing facts to a political hack who couldn't care less about the historical record. Notice that Ilovepickles hasn't actually posted anything since the end of the last Presidential Election. He has only come back now because it is the silly season again. He is probably just a clone account anyway.

I mean, I am a proud American, and I own firearms, but I don't have my head up my ass. I like to sit back and watch the infantile arguments between the "dems and reps" play out. So much fun.

  • and supply side/Reaganomics/free market killed the American Dream/wealthy middle class. I guess that's just the cost of beating the commies, huh?

Real wages for most Americans have been stagnent or fallen since the '80s. they rose and we had effective full employment from the '40s through the '70s.

Yes I remember gas lines. Our industry learned to be more diversified after that. The government does not run the economy, but it sure can undermine the working man as it has under GOP leadershi More..

  • Wow, called out on a post... I'm honored...

Okay, let's see if we can clear this up.

The US and the Soviet Union had a 30 year conflict that largely involved nuclear weapons. But did it really? Nooo... Sir, the cold war was 90% espionage/covert operations and 10% nuclear threat. For someone to say that the cold war was "over", you would have to believe that:

    1. No super power is in possession of any nuclear weapon, and
    2. There are no countries spying on other for the benefit of More..

    • @ILovePickles - It is late and I am tired , but every bit of my research on the topic say' : The End of the Cold War. Thats not me, that's people who are smarter than me saying those things. So my post is based on FACT'S. You pickle are voicing your opinion , can you see the difference. FACT = OPINION . You believe in your little mind the Cold War is not over , well I believe you are a pessimistic cynic ... See how this works?

    • @cajunmojo Yeah, but to say that the cold war was won, or that it's even over is a fact. Not really an opinion. Re-read what I wrote up there. It's based on statistical data sir which are facts.

'1. No super power is in possession of any nuclear weapon, and
      2. There are no countries spying on other for the benefit of nuclear supremacy.'

A war isn't won when all countries everywhere stop fighting. These two points should simply be reduced to the antagonists, US and her allies, USSR and hers. Your point would still stand but it would be more concise.

    • @cardboardcutout The US and the UK are still actively engaged in espionage activities within Russia and 20,000 warheads still exist by 9 countries. The war isn't "won", it's just progressed to a much different level.
