Police searching a house in Kent where the remains of Vicky Hamilton, 15, were found have discovered a second body.
Det Supt Tim Wills, of Essex Police, said the new find was a significant development and the family of missing teenager Dinah McNicol had been told.
Officers have been investigating the disappearance of Ms McNicol, 18, who failed to return home to Essex from a trip to Hampshire in 1991.
Police from two forces have been in Irvine Drive, Margate, since Monday.
The body of Ms Hamilton, from near Falkirk, Stirlingshire, was found in the back garden of the house.
Peter Tobin, 61, also from Scotland, appeared at Linlithgow Sheriff Court on Thursday and was charged with Vicky's murder.
