  • I'll bet they were reassured time and time again, by the very government they serve, that it was perfectly safe. How long did these fellas live afterwards, out of curiosity?

      Awesome, thanks!

      And just as I thought...

"Today, 55 years later, the seemingly safe operation may have had some serious side effects: all six members of the group have had cancer, with four dying of it, according to Yoshitake and Luttrell.

“In those days, nobody thought there could be any fear of developing cancer from these nuclear tests,” said Yoshitake who survived stomach cancer. “But … there must be some direct correlation between these tests and cancer.” Yo More..

  • QUICK! Take this down before the Fukushima cry-babies see this.
PS: My honest respect and sympathy to the victims of the tsunami.

  • 2KT, not that big at 10000FT. They probably made a hasty retreat after the filming stopped to avoid any possible fallout, in case it wasn't blown down range by the wind.

  • Wasn't this test in regards to the Nike missile program?

I.E atomic air defense weapons.. testing what it would be like to deploy small atomic tipped air defense missiles to shoot down bombers.. and the possible effects on the population below during an attack.

    • @skorne14 it's 1957, they knew the immediate/short term dangers. You can be sure they were studying survivors of the bombs in Japan very closely. They would have been fine if they avoided any fallout after anyways with a bomb that small and at that alt.
