Greetings

When I was a child, I tried to stay up to catch Santa in the act; but every year I would invariably doze off and miss the magic elf. Try as I may, the only trace of his coming was an empty glass of milk, half eaten cookie and the loot we hauled in that year.

As an adult, I had given up on the holiday, but last year something happened. Family came to visit, made a fuss about the dearth of yuletide spirit, and hung a few decorations about the house. Now old St. Nick hadn’t paid a visit in decades, besides, I didn’t think he was real. Well, like I said, something happened last year; and now I don’t know what to think.

About three o’clock in the morning, I hear an unusual noise; I’m thinking burglars, and man I’m pissed! Stealing on Xmas day, in my house at that! Being from Texas, I grab my pistol and just in case, a digital camera. I figured shoot the camera first, and sling lead if needed.

Well, in the dark, I crept past the refrigerator, steadied myself and…………… POUNCED!

I yelled FREEZE, and mother something or the other, while simultaneously firing the camera. There was a blinding flash, followed by gasps, shouting and the sound of little feet; but before I could recover there was a loud “WHOOSH, POOF”, and all went silent!

Man was I scared, I knew someone was there, but now it was dark and eerily quiet! I waited a few seconds, backed away and flipped on the light; pistol at hand! To my surprise, the room was completely empty, less a half eaten cookie and a glass of milk. Confused, I stared at the cookie, and then it hit me!

It was HIM, it was the jolly old elf himself, I had done the impossible; caught him on camera!!!!

After all the years of trying, all the years of failure, the decades of doubt and disbelief; I now had proof, he existed! I raced to the computer, downloaded the photo and fumbled about with the file.

I stared at the monitor in disbelief, not believing what was before my eyes; could it be real!
