this doesnt go back to 1953... it goes back to 1920's.
CIA wanted to install komeini... dont buy this propaganda crap.
just ask yourself this: how did komeini come to power? who put him on a plane on air france and flew him to iran with agents?.. the west did.
now the Question here is why? why would the west give an radical islamist so much power and support against the shah? the answer to that is money and oil. the shah wasnt playing the puppet and it was time for him to go.
so then when komeini came to full power, to everybodies suprise, he turned out to be lying and having his own agenda which wasnt what the west had told him to be. so komeini, knowing about the intelligence agencies actively working and gathering info within iran, wanted to shut it. so he could secure himself from suffering the same fate as the shah. so he ordered for the embassy take over.
ofcourse.. the media will tell u otherwise for obviouse reasons.

So you are suggesting that the CIA helped install the Ayatollah Khomeini thinking he would be of greater support to them than was the Shah. And once the Ayatollah came to power he went back on whatever promises he had with the CIA and ordered the taking of the hostages.
I will say that is the first I have heard that version. I'm not saying your wrong, I would just like to see some proof. Even if it is true, it further goes to prove the point that interventionalism into foreign governments is not a foreign policy we should be adopting as a country. The unintended consequences are just too severe.
