China - "Executing Dad" (Apr.2008) (+artistic recap)
"Despite international pressures, thousands of executions take place in China every year. What happens to the children whose parents are killed by the state?
Stigmatized by their parents' death sentence, they are shunned by relatives and neighbors. Many have to beg or steal to survive. Sun Village is China's only orphanage for so-called Dead Men's children. Its founder is a former jailer who decided to help the orphans left behind." journeymanpictures

In the movie Gangs of New York one of the most poignant scenes is when Tamminy hall power-brokers made a decision to execute 3 or 4. And the fourth was the good father, whose son watched him hang for politics. Though only a fiction, very disturbing piece of film footage. This video chronicles the real-life manifestation of that ideology. peace, komo. Never give up,never surrender.

i didn't like the film
i did like Daniel Day Lewis' character
but i resented that they presented it as 'based on a true story'. it was VERY LOOSELY based on the way New York was at that time. just like "300" was very loosely based around the Spartans -- even more so.

Yea, and the way Mel Gibson did a VERY loose interpretation of the Gospels in the Passion. That is the coup de grau regarding loooooose interpretation.
Film is the medium to persue. Internet is free information. My children will NOT get college degrees. They'll get internet degrees....at 1/10 the cost! Peace Lasrever

Really good post. China is a despicable regime. Thankfully there are at least some kind hearted people there who care about these kids.

How very sad. So many cruel and heartless people in this world who propagate, condone or are indifferent to this tragedy. There is no shortage of pain and suffering in this world. How can people not care? I don't understand.

To think people think that prisoners in the US are treated badly. Try being in prison in China or Russia. I do feel badly for these children. Their culture is to blaim. That is just how it is over there.

As if it is much better elsewhere in this world. Crack parents and others ill-treating their children and 'losing' them to foster homes where god knows what happens to them. I heard a lot of stories from adopted children and the like, in the states and in europe. Not nice to hear!
There was this alien man who slapped his teenage daughter once, trying to discipline her and getting arrested for it in the States.
So many more examples where state autority breaks up families instead of helping th More..

The chinese are cold-hearted sociopaths. This is also a symptom and ills of over-population. People are worth less the more people there are....horrible.
