Cummings’ Gun Forum A Smokescreen To Shift ATF Blame To US Gun Owners
The CCRKBA said Thursday’s planned forum on gun trafficking, called by Democrat Congressman Elijah Cummings, is a political smokescreen designed to shift blame for a botched gun sting operation from the Obama administration to this country’s gun owners, retailers and their firearms civil rights.
Cummings, ranking member on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, which has held hearings on the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ Operation Fast and Furious, has invited a Who’s Who of anti-gunners to speak at this forum, which begins at 10 a.m. tomorrow in the Russell Senate Office Building, Room 428A.
“This isn’t a forum,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “It’s a Capitol Hill kangaroo court with the singular goal of deflecting public attention away from the Justice Department’s horrible mishandling of a gunrunning sting that has flooded Mexico with guns. Operation Fast and Furious is a product of the Obama administration, and Cummings is running interference for the White House and Attorney General Eric Holder.
“The real culprits here are the ATF officials and people in the Justice Department who either approved this operation or knew about it and allowed it to happen, and everybody knows it,” he continued. “Operation Fast and Furious allowed guns to get into the hands of people who murdered Border Patrol agent Brian Terry and countless Mexican citizens, including a prominent attorney.
“But Cummings isn’t interested in pursuing the truth,” Gottlieb stated. “With a speaker lineup that includes anti-gun Sen. Charles Schumer, Kristen Rand from the Violence Policy Center and Brady Campaign President Paul Helmke – and nobody representing any major gun rights organization or any of the ATF whistleblowers – this forum is a flimsy sham with one clear purpose. Mr. Cummings wants to whitewash a Justice Department debacle and blame the mayhem in Mexico on gun rights, gun owners and gun dealers.”

In a move worthy of the benchmark set by the Soviet bloc for public manipulation, Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md) is going to hold Democratic hearings on “Project Gunwalker” tomorrow, Main Justice tells us.
Why? Why is this a partisan issue? And why am I convinced this will not be a sincere attempt to delve into the truth of criminal government actions? Well, the guest list, for one:
Speakers at the minority hearing will include Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), a former ATF agent and several gun control advocates.
That’s the Chuck Schumer who notoriously said:
"We`re going to hammer guns on the anvil of a relentless legislative strategy. We`re going to beat guns into submission."
The same Chuck Schumer who said:
"Like flat-earth fanatics, Second Amendment Fanatics just don`t get it. The NRA`s Second Amendment is an empty cereal box in the market place of ideas."
So much for his respect for our most cherished rights and our beliefs. So much for his understanding of the Constitution he swore an oath to uphold. And so much for any chance of this subversive career parasite ever leaving us the hell alone.
What does the government knowingly allowing uncounted guns to be walked into the hands of some of the most violent criminals on the planet have to do with gun control advocacy? Why are they invited?
Also, who is the “former ATF agent” going to be? As “No Lawyers-Only Guns and Money” blog confirms, “Rep. Cummings has not posted a release or notice about the hearings on the House Oversight Committee's website.”
Why not? And might it be Waco Jim, as the blog suspects?
And how does bait-and-switch shilling for more citizen disarmament square with another solemn pledge Cummings made (aside from that ritual formality of an oath that he never had any intention of keeping)?
“I promise you we will not rest until every single person responsible – no matter who they are – are put to justice,” Cummings told members of Brian A. Terry’s family.
The thought occurs—it was when the Democrats did hold partisan dominance that the pleas to address ATF management waste, abuse corruption and fraud went ignored.Repeatedly. By Cummings & Co. and his media co-conspirators. If they had done their damn job, Gunwalker never would have happened. You go, Old Bloodyhands!
And for those who say the suspicion that Gunwalker being exploited to justify more power for ATF and impose more “gun control” on you and me is a baseless right wing conspiracy theory, just what the hell do you think every effort by the regressive left to do just that, right in front of our eyes—from the gungrabber groups to the oath-breaking political whores to the “Authorized Journalist” Fourth Estate/Fifth Column—has been about? Just what the hell do you think tomorrow is going to be about?
That’s something, isn’t it? If Gunwalker worked, they’d go for more power and gun control. If Gunwalker didn’t work, they’d go for more power and gun control.
Heads we win, tails you lose.

Note to newcomers to this story: “Project Gunrunner” is the name ATF assigned to its Southwest Border Initiative to interdict gun smuggling to Mexico. “Project Gunwalker” is the name I assigned to the scandal after allegations by agents that monitored guns were allowed to fall into criminal hands on both sides of the border through a surveillance process termed “walking” surfaced.

French military spokesman Col. Thierry Burkhard said Wednesday that France had airlifted weapons to Libyan civilians in a mountain region south of Tripoli. The deliveries of guns, rocket-propelled grenades and munitions took place in early June in the western Nafusa mountains, when Gadhafi's troops had encircled civilians.
Britain's government said it believed the French decision to supply weapons fell within the terms of the United Nations Security Council resolution that authorizes international action in Libya.
But China questioned whether or not the supplying of weapons contravened the international agreement. Russia too has previously complained about the scope of the NATO-led air campaign in Libya.
"China calls on the international community to strictly follow the spirit of the relevant resolution of the U.N. Security Council and avoid taking any action that goes beyond the mandate of the resolution," Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei told reporters. "We always call for a political resolution to the Libyan crisis so as to restore peace and stability as soon as possible."

NRA to Gun Dealers: Don't Respond to Anti-Gun Survey
Opinion by NRA
If you are a federally licensed dealer in firearms, you may recently have received a survey questionnaire from gun control supporter Dr. Garen Wintemute, of the University of California, Davis.
The survey asks dealers questions about their business, their reasons for being in the business, their support for gun control, and their customers.
Why is Dr.Wintemute sending the survey? Consider the source. Over the years, he has received hundreds of thousands of dollars from anti-gun organizations to conduct “studies” designed to promote gun control. Several of these so-called “studies” have tried to blame legal firearms dealers for the illegal use of guns, and proposed further restrictions on dealers' ability to conduct business. (You can see a list of past studies on his website, at http://www.ucdmc.ucdavis.edu/vprp/publications/.)
We recommend that you do not respond to the survey, for two reasons. First, many of the questions in the survey are written so that Dr. Wintemute will be able to claim that at least some dealers support one or another form of gun control, or that they report the occurrence of situations that, Dr. Wintemute will likely claim, prove the need for restrictions on dealers and their customers. Second, participating in the survey in any way would give Dr. Wintemute credibility in the eyes of the anti-gun organizations that fund his efforts, which would only increase his chance of obtaining more money for more anti-gun research.
