Nasa's Curiosity Mars Launch
The Mars Science Laboratory (MSL), which includes the car-sized rover known as Curiosity, successfully launched from Cape Canaveral this morning and is now headed toward the Red Planet.
The MSL launched aboard an Atlas V rocket at 10:02am Eastern. By 11am, crews on the ground received a signal indicating the MSL had separated from the rocket and was "flying free and headed for Mars," NASA said.
