Now that's a bad-ass Car door!
BMW I think.

What a silly idea. How is one supposed to open that door into the path of a cyclist?

@Ratiocinator
One would have to carry a length of 2x4 lumbar to get the same effect. Very inconvenient if you ask me.

@Ratiocinator You just open the door and use a traditional extended foot trip or kick. Easy. Or, Indiana Jones a broom handle in to their spokes.

I could see that puppy freezing shut in a Canadian winter - my ol' Malibu beater is more reliable.

@Poosti Malaka Exactly what I was thinking. I struggle enough when my fuel door won't unlatch during the winters here in Chicago. Drives me insane.

@SSSox88 Had an old Mazda 626 with that problem - the damn fuel door would freeze shut and you are basically hosed...

@pchart7 99% of the people that buy a new Beamer couldn't give a shit less about the repair costs.

@BenFranklin420 BMWs aren't that expensive, so they're owned by many middle-class people who do care about repair costs. Heck, the kid who lives with his parents can afford a brand new BMW if his parents don't make him pay rent and he has a job.

@hunterr83 Very true, but those are the idiots who can just afford one but don't think ahead, BMW's service and repair have always been known to be expensive. Better not buy one if it's going to hurt your wallet further down the track :)

I like it, but in a hot country.
Here in The Netherlands in winter if you open a door like that passengers will freeze to death instantly!

@computernumericcontrol I'm with you there. Was looking for a seam thinking it's a telescoping door but I don't see anything.

@computernumericcontrol Looks like it just goes straight down. I've seen older designs that kind of roll the door underneath. This one just looks short. It only goes down level with the seat.
I kinda like the one that slid forward into the fender better.
