(Raw video) 10/25/07 Ronald J. Chenette is accused of killing K9 Officer Dakota, a 5 yr old German Shepard.Flipping the bird at reporters and saying "Charles Manson rules" today in court, he stated he should have killed a second K9 that was sent in after Dakota did not return.
Vancover SWAT was called in when Chenette had threatened to kill a cop.
Under the states 3 strikes law,he is eligible for life imprisonment. Sgt. Tim Bieber, a Clark County Sheriff's Office spokesman, said Ronald J. Chenette, 38, encountered the dog as it helped search a wooded area. SWAT team members heard a gunshot and called the dog, but it didn't return. Another dog found Chenette and bit him when he fought. Bieber said Chenette was Tasered after a struggle and taken into custody.
The slain dog was handled by Vancouver police Officer Roger Evans.
Chenette has an extensive criminal history, including a 1991 murder conviction,assault and burglery.
