- Several witnesses called 911 right away after the shooting at the Shoot Straight Gun Range in Casselberry.
Operator: What part of the body was injured?
Caller: The head.
Operator: One or both?
Caller: Both of them.
Bobby Davidowitz saw it all go down at the gun range, "When I heard a gunshot I look and I see this kid collapsing spitting up blood it took me a second to register." Bobby and his friends noticed something wasn't quite right before it happened, "These people are too hyper to be at the gun range she was walking back and forth."
According to court records, Marie Moore had two past DUI convictions that should have kept her from using a gun in the first place. We asked Bobby for his reaction, "It doesn't make me mad it makes me more aware." However, police reports state that Marie had a history of mental illness. She also attempted suicide at the range several years ago. So people working there banned her, "Now that makes me angry. That same gun range. I just don't get how lax that is." Investigators say Marie even rented the gun from the range. Bobby doesn't plan to take another chance, "I probably wouldn't go back to any range."
While family members did not want to talk to us, neighbors say Marie grew up in Altamonte Springs.
She eventually gave birth to Mitchel. Many like Bobby wonder why she would take his life away, "You wonder how someone could do that and then do that to their son. I pray for the soul of both of them."
No one from Shoot Straight Gun Range would comment. There are no laws regulating places to check backgrounds of people who use ranges.
Meanwhile, Mitchel's father was devastated by the news. According to police reports, he expected Mitchel for dinner; instead he got a visit from police with the bad news
