Neucrotic foot on patient with 4 years of uncontrolled diabetes
Happy friday the 13th...GROSS
This video from India has audio commentary by doctor who filmed it. The doctor calls the condition “Diabetic Foot“. According to the commentary, this Diabetic Foot is a result of 4 years of uncontrolled diabetes.
The foot is necrotic, covered with dead tissue and pus. The patient
probably doesn’t have any feelings in it. And as the doctors says in the
video, the patient had his other foot treated for the same condition a
year prior.

@qbedobedoo ever explored problems with the feet, in depth? doctors and surgeons will spend decades and even go as far as 30+ surgeries on a single foot just to say they've kept it, whether or not the patient can even use it or sleep with it without a brace to keep the ankle joint in a straight position. I'm all for aggressive treatment of wounds caused by circulatory issues - like DM in this case. If it's a mere case of infection, we can treat that with abx and make the wound heal up nicely, but when the needed blood supply simply aren't there, it makes absolutely no sense trying to pretend we can make it heal - it won't.. so skip the charade and amputate.

@qbedobedoo i agree. with everyone complaining about medical costs, look at the total for 8 to 30 surgeries to save a foot or hand adds up to. if the patient is of the mindset to amp, then do it and save the patient decades of nightmare. if the patient doesn't want to go that route, then try what you can. there is a point, though, when the patient has had enough. there are numerous angles to each situation.

I'm damn sure I couldn't do it. I'm possibly looking at a few more surgeries on one of mine, but I'm not to the point that guy is with his mindset. all I can say is... YIKES!
