Let go of that God damned weapon!
In the seventh Houthi war in almost as many years, the Houthi shiites take up arms to expand the land under their control along the Saudi border. Anti-government tribal alliances decend onto the north of Yemen from all regions to defeat the plan, with government forces noticeably absent by design from the fight. Houthis Shiite rebels have been linked to their arch foe Ahmad Ali, the president's son and leader of the Republican Guards and himself a Shiite. The president and the Houthis fought six civil wars prior to the revolution, but alliances change. The man who was leading the wars against the Houthis was General Ali Muhsin of the First Armoured Division, who switched sides to the revolution against the president taking his division with him. And the president's son who was once in line to inherit the presidency supports the Houthis tactically after the revolution. The Republican Guards have been fighting alongside the Houthis, and have refrained from attacking them as agreed. The goal is to reach the Red Sea port of Mena, strategic to allow the import of Iranian weapons, and a second Iranian ship with weapons has recently been intercepted. While the president of Yemen, Ali Abdullah Saleh, resides in NYC under an immunity deal led by Obama to save him from accusations of crimes against humanity.
