  • This is stupid. I've pretty involved in local football and we've had a few girsl play over the years.
    However when the get to the peewee stage that's it. And for good reason.
    The boys start to gain body mass and size. The coaches won't play the girls because they are responsible for the well being of their players.
    No coach is going to send a 90 lb girl. out on a field to play with boys who are much stronger and heavier. That's just common sense and this father should know this as well.

  • She can hold her own and play on the team when the boys aren't the only ones who face jail time, severe fines, loss of driving privileges, etc. if they don't register for the selective service of which this girl will never have to concern herself. Sorry, full equality without full responsibility doesn't cut it anymore.

  • Rather than whine and complain about how an established organization won't change their rules why doesn't this girl and her father do something REALLY revolutionary and start up a girls football league.

    (I'm pretty sure that girls would just pull each others' hair and cry a lot, especially at "that" time of the month.)

  • Feminists must be pissed. Though I have to agree with the decision, the boys and girls her age are starting to enter puberty, boys and girls become physically different and her risk of injury is much higher. I'm sure she could've kept playing but there are insurance issues the school must look at, which is probably why she was kicked off.
