Southern California Police Doing Damage Control After Horrific Youtube Video Shows Them Beating, Tasing Man

----------

Long Beach police said they had no choice but to repeatedly strike a man on the ground with a baton because he was kicking them.

But the video shows he was merely trying to block their vicious baton blows with his leg.

Police also say Porfirio Santos Lopez deserved to be beaten because he had started a fight with two men earlier – even though that fight was long over when they had him on the ground, beating him with batons and shocking him with tasers.

Police can claim all they want. And the local media will probably eat it all up.

But the rest of us can see the truth for ourselves; a sadistic cop who has yet to be identified needs to be criminally charged.

There’s no doubt that Santos Lopez needed to be arrested. A surveillance video shows him starting a fight with two men over what police say was a beer.

But neither the surveillance video that police turned over to the media in order to justify their actions nor the Youtube video captured by a witness shows Santos Lopez striking out at police.

Nevertheless, Long Beach police flack Aaron Eaton told KTLA that Santos Lopez kicked the baton out of the officer’s hand, kicked the officer’s wrist and even kicked the officer’s face, so the officer was merely trying to defend himself by striking him repeatedly with the baton, proving once again that there is a special place in hell for lying public information officers.

Police say he was drunk and high on meth. His family says he suffers from mental illness. Witnesses say he looked to be drunk, but police abused their authority.

----------

According to ABC Local:

“It was way too much. I felt like he was drunk, so they could have easily gotten him down as many of them as there were,” said witness Mycalneisha Jackson.

One woman, who didn’t want to be identified, shot cellphone video of the incident and said she thinks the officers abused their power.

“There’s no points about it, that they just don’t look good to anybody. But, in this particular case, the officer is trying to get this individual who was combative, who was irrational,” said Sgt. Aaron
Eaton with the Long Beach Police Department.

The suspect’s sister started crying when she saw her brother’s bloodied face. He is now at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center. His family says he’s suffering from broken bones, cuts, and a collapsed lung.

“They’re supposed to help us, not hurt us,” said Santos Lopez’s wife, Lee Ann Hernandez.

Hernandez says she and her husband have called authorities for help with his undiagnosed mental illness for months.

“I keep telling the police he needs help, he needs help, he needs help and they wouldn’t do anything. And they turn around and beat him for nothing. That’s not right,” she said.

----------

The video, like so many other videos we have seen in the past, shows us that police have absolutely no tact or training in dealing with mentally ill people.

  • If you don't comply this is what you get. So listen dumbfucker and do what the PO PO tell you to do.

Now we got to pay the fool out of our tax dollars for being a idiot. In some other countries they would have set him on fire or cut his head off with a rusty butter knife. America is still the greatest country in the world. So suck it.

Right, and here i was thinking it was their job to arrest him and investigate the case so they can file chargers ... all while causing the least amount of disturbance possible.

    Silly me.

  • How long does it take for the full body charlie horse to wear off after being tased?

What's the difference between resisting and instinctualy defending yourself from heavy baton blows?

    Just some thoughts...

Remember back in the day when the cops would just roll him over themselves during the process of restraining?

Now they just stand back and shock him till he complies.

    Interesting, lazy, and harmful.

  • Just curious, what is the right way to get him in handcuffs if he won't roll over?

    • @Cartel  Hey, I like them and would help them in a second. NOT these cops though. It looks like they will pay for this one. The stick man with his job, and probably others.

    • @Cartel couldn't agree more with you, I wouldn't piss on a cop if he was on fire!! but these cops will prob get away with this video evidence means nothing when it come to prosecuting cops, how many other beatings and abuse of power have we seen where they are suspended with PAY or put on desk duty pending investigation! need to start plucking them off one by one from a concealed position randomly(hard to trace)one shot one kill!

  • There were four of them.  They couldn't bend down, grab this guy, and turn him over?  Why are we paying these guys to patrol the streets and paying for their special training?  Angry mobs of citizens could do the same thing.

    • @tscooter22 where is the line between resisting arrest and protecting yourself from a sadistic officer of the law.

    • @tscooter22 Are you a cop yourself?

How does it feel when women laugh at your 1 inch pecker? Does that memory make you hit innocent people harder?

    • @janus83 If he wasn't resisting we wouldn't be having this conversation today. This is precisely the reason why cops are given batons, stun guns and pistols as tools to take a subject into custody.

    • @tscooter22 ok, you didn't answer my question. let me rephrase. is there a line between resisting arrest and protecting yourself. for instance, if a peace officer wanted stick his thumbs in your eyes, would you resist or allow him to do it? just asking.

  • You know, the police have exactly the same rights and are bound by exactly the same laws as the general public. The use of force is the same for them as it is for everyone else. You/they have an inherent right to self defence, You/they have the same power to apprehend and arrest a criminal, you/they have the same right to use deadly force if justifiable. Apart from a few details like speeding in certain circumstances and enforcing warrants and stop and search etc, the police have no additional r More..

  • Every one of these videos have the same thing in common: refusing orders and resisting arrest. If I'm a cop and I have a family to go home to, I'm not going to take any risks when it comes to someone that appears to be high and combative. I certainly wouldn't want a guy like this rampaging through my neighborhood.

  • Cops are going to end up getting shot at. It would be only natural to fight against a gang that uses its power to put on displays like this.

  • Why is it so fucking hard to do what the officers ask you to do?! It would save you a lot of time and pain in the end.

Now, somebody go ahead and quote Thomas Jefferson. I know it's coming. BTW, that quote had nothing to do with criminals resisting arrest.

    • @puckett69

Because once you have a broken arm the last thing you'll be wanting to do is put your hands behind your back so someone can handcuff you! The guy is in agony and pleading with them to stop, with five cops around him he isn't going anywhere! They should have taken a pause in beating and electrocuting him to re-asses the situation. In the video, no matter if he was aggressive and uncooperative at the start, he is clearly trying to defend him self, not trying to escape or attack the More..
