Icy Interstate Accidents and Slideoffs Caught on Tape
I know that is not the right season..at least in the northern emisphere.
However I just found that video were blowing snow creates very icy conditions on Interstate 64 on the Illinois side of the St. Louis metro area, near the town of Shiloh. Several dramatic crashes and spinouts are caught on tape. In the distance, a tractor-trailer collides with a car, strikes a bridge barrier, then plunges off the road into the woods. Closer to the camera, cars spin out and slide both into the median and off the right side of the road.
I hope is not a repost.

That camera guy have A.D.D. or something? Sheesh. In the hopes of catching some action, the camera was moving around so much it was hard to keep track of what was going on.

@TheCheeta Looks to be a handheld camera with a zoom lense. It's extremely difficult to hold steady while zoomed in.

Nice. I only live about 30 miles from where this was filmed. Kind of nice to see a local video, but I'm embarrassed at how poor these drivers were driving.
I love driving in the snow. I HATE driving on ice.

What kind of dumbshits don't feel the need to slow down in those conditions? I live in the SF Bay area so no ice but when I go up to Tahoe or Reno, you'll find me 35 yards behind the semis cruising at their speed since they seem to be the only ones on the road with any common sense.

It's very simple explanation for the crashes, and that explanation is:
DRIVING TOO FAST FOR CONDITIONS!!!!

What is frightening is that the average driver is NOT qualified to drive under any circumstances yet the highways are filled with these idiots.

Icy road, poor visibility, and drivers that don't understand the need to slow down..so typical.

@w55ks
During winter you see more 4x4's in the ditch than any other kind of vehicle.
The key is knowing how to drive

@Rusty420 That would be asking far to much from the general public.

@w55ks You rely on 4x4 to keep you out of the ditch? That is silly.
