I have encountered these fellows foraging along the roadside in the rural portion of Knox County,Tennessee, three times in the last couple weeks. They are all males, with tassels called beards on their fronts. One of them is dominant. They are clever birds, as well. Turkeys will wander along the roadside searching for food yet I never see them as road-kill. Also, they will seemingly ignore people yet always manage to keep a minimum of 50 feet between them and any person on foot. Enjoy.
