US President Barack Obama on Tuesday marked the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, the end of the holy Muslim fasting month of Ramadan by renewing his support for the “Arab Spring” movement against repressive regimes.
AFP - “This year, many have observed the month while courageously persevering in their efforts to secure basic necessities and fundamental freedoms,” he said in a statement released during a one-day trip to Minneapolis.
“The United States will continue to stand with them and for the dignity and rights of all people, whether a hungry child in the Horn of Africa or a young person demanding freedom in the Middle East and North Africa,” he said.
His comments came in a statement to Muslims in the United States and around the world on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, the three-day feast at the end of Ramadan.
“As Ramadan comes to an end, we send our best wishes for a blessed holiday to Muslim communities around the world. Eid Mubarak,” he said.

President Obama spoke at the American Legion, a 3 million strong organization of US Military combat veterans. NOT the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a 1.5 million strong organization of US Military Combat Veterans. If you are a VFW member, changes are you are a member of the American Legion. Both organizations aid and support programs for veterans.
