@alex1212 If the driver pays attention the accident is perfectly avoidable. It helps if the stopped car's hazard lights are on, though. Don't know if they were in this case, it's hard to see.
Edit: looking at it a few more times, it was 100% avoidable. I think the driver wasn't paying attention.

Now if I somehow came to a stop in the middle of a busy highway, I would not even think of pushing the car to the shoulder or even setting up the triangle 2 inches behind my car. I'd put my seat in an upright position, press my head against the head rest and brace for the impact.

How is the dashcam driver an idiot? Assuming they're driving 65mph, I don't see how he can be faulted. The disabled car is parked literally in the middle of a busy highway which reduces visibility to the point where a wreck like this can rarely be avoided. That is why there are laws that make it illegal to park disabled vehicles in the middle of a highway- at least in my state. I can't imagine any circumstance under which the driver of the disabled vehicle couldn't have coasted h More..

in germany you have to put the warning triangle away for at least 100 m, on highways away for 150 to 400 m, and also you should drive on the right emergency lane. if the poster calls the driving guy an idiot then he's retarded, otherwise he's right that the driver of the standing car is an complete reckless idiot who should be sued for physical injury resulting from negligence.

@nigahiga 1.) ideally yes, the stationary car would be on the hard shoulder stopping there mid carriageway is hugely bad BUT you don't know the cause of the vehicle stopping, could be something weird.

I would agree when the Audi was hidden by a truck or so and the driver couldnt have seen it in time. But it was like he was going for it like a heat seeking missile, from a kilometer away, FFS!
Oh and putting a warning sign up 100+ meter behind your car is suicide on Russian roads. At least the was smart in this point. He still could have rolled it to the side. Cars dont just die and stop instantly in their tracks.
