Huawei Ascend P1 S released at CES 2012 is the latest smartphone to claim the "world's thinnest" title at just 6.68mm thick at its thinnest point.

Huawei is hoping to get this on shelves by the end of March 2012 for around £260 ($400).
Just 2 months ago Huawei Technologies, an unlisted Chinese company with annual sales of $31.7 billion, overtook Sweden's Ericsson as the world's top-selling telecommunication equipment manufacturer. Now Huawei is seeking to become a major player in personal devices market. In the meantime, Samsung, one of the leading mobile phone makers, expects to greatly boost its share in telecommunication equipment market.

Making something thin at its thinnest point is not such a big deal. The letter K is pretty thin at its thinnest point. The tricky part is to make something thin at its thickest point.

OK, so why is thinner better? My fat ass will snap that thing in a second. It is too difficult to hold. Battery life sucks.
