The HIMARS is the newest member of the multiple-launch rocket system family. HIMARS is a highly-mobile artillery rocket system offering the firepower of MLRS on a wheeled chassis. It carries a single six-pack of rockets on the US Army's family of medium tactical vehicles.

The purpose of the system is to engage and defeat artillery, air defense concentrations, trucks, light armor and personnel carriers, as well as support troop and supply concentrations.
