Be warned. Anyone who watches this. Vid is rather quiet up until the 02:15 mark when a landing jet blasts out your eardrums and melts your face.

Not being a carrier afficionado, is it safe to be standing next to a taut cable that may snap at any time or have the aircraft link break?

I guess that explains why old salts often have a wooden leg. Now all we need is an explanation for the eye patch and the parrot on shoulder.

Simple. The eye patch is from a misunderstanding of the game of poker, and the parrot is in reality a pigeon used for communicating with other ships. (so I was told by me granpappy)

Like in that video from a US carrier? I guess it doesn't happen often when proper maintained.

We have one incident early on OEF or OIF a cable snap. I notice that quick anticipation of the flight deck crew on the landing.

While most naval carriers employ a system of long distant integrated digital defense systems, providing layered defensive barriers, the French navy uses a similar system except its used to automate and coordinate a surrender response to any threat.
