Youv'e developed a lot of friends here and if you dont get better who the hell is gonna do trivia????? Damn Bolo sure cant handle it. Take care of yourself my friend and I wish you all the best!

  • Why the name UglyAmerican? You can guess why I might ask with the video an all. Don't put off getting the help, guy. I've been down this road and I'll say it again... don't put it off.

    • I think that the name is evidence and an sign of why depression is part of his life. By this I mean you (meaning ugly american) are probably a bit negative. The key to being happy and or out of depression is to always be and think positive. I have had my share of depression I think we have all been really down before but I always snap out of it by just being really positive! Just do it and before you know it you will develop that train of thought and will normally be positive. Always laugh too! More..

  • Wish you the best in your recovery. Hope you get the help and support you need. Depression is a serious medical problem, therapy and/or medication can get you through this. I've had a few bouts with it, hang in there it will get better. First step is asking for help, Congrats.

  • Quit your job (if you still have one), sell your car, personal belongings, house even if you want to go all out, buy an airplane ticket to Brazil and party like your in your dying days, drink copious amounts of margaritas and have sex with women with huge asses and equally ample breasts....you will soon remember what a wonderful world we live in...and i speak from experience..

  • I'm booked on that same cruise. The only thing keeping me alive is my 1 year old son. Without him, I would be fish food in the ocean. My life is a disaster, with no hope of it ever turning around.

    • Not true, besides there is always someone out there with a shittier life. I consider myself spoiled because I get to wake up in a clean bed a fridge full of food and a healthy body. Things beyond that are luxury to me. Being happy with who you are is the true key to happiness I think. Reaching that goal may take different steps, maybe take some classes to learn and feel smarter, exercise to feel better about your image, volunteer to feel like you are helping a greater cause. Become involved more More..

  • I clicked on your video because I know the pain. There are days when I feel like offing myself. The world is corrupted but there are also much beauty in the world. You just need to connect with people like us that care and it really makes things better. Just remember bro you are not alone , life is very tough and things always have a way of working out. Keep your head up bud. And whatever you do avoid alcohol.

  • I hate to say it UA, but who on here that is a regular, isn't depressed in some sort of way. I think this country is depressing. This world is depressing. The world is a cynnical place, and being cynnical back, is just a natural reaction. I've become one of the most isolated and enclosed people on this site.
Like owen said, medicating is a crutch and a means to the end of depression; not an end. Turn your depression and anger into something meaningful. I hope that made any sense.

  • A new trend in video. If more people would bury their ego and come forward with their thoughts like this, we would be able to feel as though we are all here together. This isn't high school. The negative comments come from people who never socially made it of high school. Thank you for this video.
This guy has balls. We have all felt like this and we know it.

  • God bless and good on you for seeking help. Depression is a battle that is seldom conquered alone.

Happiness is definitely worth the effort of struggling back from depression. All the best to you!

  • It is good to know that you recognize you have a problem and are seeking help.

What is really remarkable, is the concern you show for others, who might be suffering from the same illness you are battling. That is really a selfless act and I applaud you for that! It shows your concern for others and your willingness to help them, even though you have problems of your own.

I hope and pray that your depression leaves your life for good and never returns!

Judging by the responses here at L More..

  • Please don't take this as a joke, as I really hope you find a way to cope with your depression, but if you haven't tried any yet, get some weed and smoke some of it. Preferably with a friend (maybe someone you know who has some). My son has been suffering from depression since he was in a fatal car crash back in 2007. He was in the back seat, and the girl in front of him was killed. Even though he wasn't driving, I think he feel guilty about why she died and he lived, or if maybe he would ha More..

    • I think that is a great idea, particularly if you are going to try meds anyway and live in a med mary state....less side effects and dependency issues with herb....much safer for you imo.

  • You need to GET OUT of the house! Get around people. Get medication, start exersising, eating right and getting into a normal sleep pattern.

DON'T stay up ALL NIGHT! That makes it worse.
Don't turn to alcohol, that makes it worse!

Get some medication like Prozac, get into a group of other HUMANS, not the Internet.

And find ways to HELP OTHERS.

  • Ugly, I too have stood on the edge of that abyss, depression is something I have had to learn to manage most of my adult life. I know what it is like to self loath, and it's not healthy. Wow, I could talk to you for hours about this. I know you are not alone on this path, please seek some professional advice, as it can help a LOT.
Oh, and the door down here is still open if you want to bail out of the USA for a few weeks.

  • I ended a 2-3 year depression phase bout 7 years ago. One day during my phase I just spontaneously made a 100% decision that depression wasn't going to be the rest of my life and that I was going to do everything I could do to end it no matter how long it took.

Through my experience i'll say to anyone who is depressed should read, "A Guide to Rational Living" by Albert Ellis. A very effective book, read the reviews on Amazon.

  • Depression is tough. I don't feel I am worthless. I simply see the potential of the human species and how its institutions have turned a once thinking species into an overbreeding, under-educated parasite.

I take meds. It can't stop critical thought. It can't stop the recognition of genuine truth.

I think Alice in Chains said it best, "...my eyes. Can you sew them shut."
