I was thinking possibly poachers since there was no audio,no follow up shot as to give themselves away. That was where I was confused by the attempt to keep it moving downhill. I couldnt figure that part out but it makes perfect sense after your input. Thanks!

I had a hunch they were trying to get it to go close to the water,so they wouldn't have to carry it far.
According to the article I was correct.
These guys are poachers,not hunters,they were trying to get it closer to their boat down by the water.
The good news is they were caught,the tape was used as evidence,and were issued a hefty fine they will not soon forget.
No figures were mentioned,but it is most likely in the multiple thousand range.

Most of us would never do anything like this in a million years. It was hard for me to see that 1st buck and the cougar suffer.
