Looks to be classic 'grip of death' common in motorcycle accidents. Something startles/panics the rider and they tense up which is bad when holding the throttle open. The increase in speed further panics the rider who tense up more leading to the 'grip of death' senario often accompanied by trying to brake using their feet and inevitablly leading to collission with static objects.
