They are invasive and a nuisance so I wonder why there is a daily bag limit on them.

@-sloop-
I hadn't heard that. There used to be a bounty of up to $5.00 per tail turned in. As far as I know, there still is. When I first moved here over 20 years ago, I would shoot 20-30 of them each year. Now, I haven't seen any in at least a year.

Also, the former Sheriff in a nearby Parish used to get practice for his snipers by letting them pick off nutrias in the canal. Can't remember his name, but R.I.P. to him; he was one of those outspoken sheriffs that knew how to get shit done even if it ruffled some feathers.

@RickBond...Yeah, the guy in the vid said 5 per day per person. That just doesn't add up. I was thinking that there still was a bounty for Nutria tails in La.

No, it was Harry Lee in Jefferson Parish. They don't make many like him these days:

@SSSox88 Not yet...its one of those things done in homes rather than in shops etc.
The other big one at this time of year is blackbird pate, in fact any songbird is highly prized

@SSSox88 hence the name nutria :) scientists should call the next invasive species yummicus.

Tasty, I hear. They're such a nuisance here that LA had leading chefs prepare different dishes with them to encourage consumption. Nutrias are vegetarian and their meat is supposed to be healthy too. There are Nutria Festivals here too. I never went to the festivals to try it though.

Imagine the size of the exercise wheel if you had one of these feckers as a pet!
That was pretty good shooting with the 9mm by the way.

We're the only top end predator left, in some parts. Now we have to reduce the population of the deer
running rampant.
