      I use a mixture of both the bench press bar, and free dumbbells. The free dumbbells helps to build "assistive" muscles that you wouldn't get with just a straight bar.

      its unsafe even with a spotter, there are plenty of otherways to build your chest, you can do dumbell presses, dips, pushups, flys etc..... pass on the bench press.

      and start doing full body circuit training type workouts, none of that bullshit were you do chest and biceps for an hour and a half without breaking a sweat, do dumbell squats, deadlifts, seated rows, pullups, pushups, and abs in cycles for 45 minutes and then run for 10 minutes, do the lifts slow mike mentzer style More..

  • Theres obviously a genuine reason for this. The dude aint the youngest guy there and his posture is all fucked up on one side, so im thinking hes recovering from a stroke and trying to regain full function on both sides, maybe im wrong but im not gonna knock this guy just incase.

  • You might be making fun of this guy, but he could very well have an injury to his right arm or shoulder that he's trying to rehabilitate or work on.

    Could have been a work injury, military injury, or some accident.

    • @SpicyTruth It's just not his right arm though. He isn't even holding the bar right and has all sorts of weird body movements. It really looks like he should take some of the weight off. Benching like this can only cause more harm than good, especially since he doesn't have a spotter.

  • I blame the stupid “hero” culture where people buy into the lie that how much you bench press means anything relevant. Start light, use good form, mix things up with pushups, dumbbell press etc.
    The goal should be to get STRONGER, FASTER, more ATHLETIC, better STAMINA not “yea I bench 29484976436 pounds”.
