So, the devastating repercussions of Britney Spears� VMAs performance are being felt daily in the celebrity world, with new details emerging all the time.

We�re piecing together the events leading up to Britters� dodgy comeback � which hasn�t been so hard, as it seems she left a trail of destruction in her wake. One source said the singer arrived in Las Vegas for rehearsals three and a half hours late, causing MTV�s production team to �freak out�.

If that wasn�t bad enough, instead of getting straight down to business, Britters went to her hotel room and ordered �a bunch of food and some frozen margaritas�. When rehearsals finally did go ahead, said the source, Britney kept forgetting the words, couldn�t pull the off the more challenging dance moves (some had to be dropped) and rejected MTV�s costume suggestion, settling for her own choice � the unflattering bra and knickers combo. Apparently the dancers were so worried, �they were texting pals, asking them to pray for them�.



The next day, before she was due to go onstage, La Spears went into a crazed tantrum because she didn�t like her hairdo. An MTV insider said: �The scene in the dressing room before the show was one of absolute blind panic. She knew she hadn�t rehearsed enough and was going to mess up the whole show and possibly her career - then she saw her hairdo and it was the final straw. She went into a wild rage and started lashing out at everyone - including her stylist.�

What to do? Call the doctor, of course, for some prescription drugs. �Britney took enough to floor an elephant,� the source continued. �They calmed her down - but were clearly too effective.�

Everyone, it seems, has had something to say about the troubled popstar�s performance. Tori Amos, however, went as far to sing a song about Britney�s plight, during a concert in Australia on Tuesday:
