FENTON, Mo. -- A 4-year-old girl taken from her Louisiana, Mo., front yard has been found alive 80 miles away near St. Louis.
St. Louis county authorities Alisa Maier was found around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in the St. Louis suburb of Fenton.
The girl was found after police received a call about a boy wandering around at a car wash. It turned out the child was Alisa.
She was taken to a nearby hospital where she was reunited with her parents.
Authorities say Alisa appeared tired, but no other details were given on her physical condition. This morning, Alisa has been talking with police officers about the incident.
At this time, police continue to search for the man suspected kidnapping Alisa from her Louisiana, Missouri home.
"He is a white male, possible dark skinned while male. Short dark hair, early 30's. He was in a black or dark brown, mid size four door vehicle, possibly a Ford Escort," said St. Louis County Police Chief Tim Fitch. "And there's something to be noted here, there's two important parts and details of the vehicle. One, it had a very loud muffler. The witness described it probably had a hole in the muffler, it was that loud. That's what first brought the attention from the witnesses to the vehicle. Also, the vehicle was missing wheel covers on the driver's side."
Police are also looking at surveillance video from businesses in the area that she was located.
Meanwhile, family members back in Louisiana learned early this morning that Alisa had been found and rejoiced, saying it was an answer to their prayers.
"It's true, so it's wonderful, and I thank God for it. And all the prayers of people and the help we've been getting with passing our fliers," said Alisa's great-grandmother, Mary Foiles.
Louisiana Police Chief Richard Hughes says that Alisa's parents were overwhelmed with emotion after learning their daughter had been found, and everyone involved in this case is grateful for the support nationwide.
"I'm very happy. It's great to see that the public, the media, and law enforcement can come together for this positive outcome," said Hughes. "I'm glad to see where we're at right now, that Alisa's back."
Alisa was taken while playing with her 5-year-old brother in the front yard of a house on North Carolina Street at about 8 p.m. Monday night. (See 'Amber Alert: Search efforts grow in Alisa Maier abduction')
Her brother told police a man he didn't know pulled up in a car and ordered his sister to get in.
