The fact that Assad could not garrison enough troops to hold the base or send a relief force during the siege indicates a marked weakening of his forces.
Also, notice in all of these videos being posted how the FSA are acting like tourists wandering around the base and not one air raid by Assad's airforce to interrupt them

Russian Mi-8/17 type helicopters.
Some of these look like they may have been under servicing, but basically operational. There's no way the SAA wanted to lose them. If they could have flown them out -- or defended them -- they would have.

@NotJim Well, to me, most/all of them look old/abandoned that used for cannibalization - still useful for extracting spare parts for operational ones , but they don't go anywhere... when/if things change, SAA can return to that base (and honestly, i think that FSA may leave in few days).
