Alien Planet

The drama on Darwin IV is motivated by real science missions, such as the NASA Origins Program and the NASA / JPL Planet-Finder Mission, as well as the European Space Agency's Darwin Project. "Alien Planet " is a cosmic expedition along side Stephen Hawking, Michio Kaku, Jack Horner, Craig Venter, and George Lucas...

  • We may not want to make contact with other life forms. Are we really that intelligent if compared with alien life forms? Maybe, but maybe not. We may wind up being a good food source for another life form or maybe an interesting specimen to be studied, or just a pest to be exterminated before we infest the cosmos.

    • @osok1949 interestingly Hawking recently said that he believed it more probably that if a more advanced alien race existed and were aware of us they would probably view as a threat or a pest. Given how rascist humans are to each other and how bad they can treat animals, a lower form of life in our eyes, that seems logical to me.

  • It would not take 20 years to travel to a star 10 light years away, traveling at half the speed of light, but far less time.

    • @mcgeemcgoo Because physical objects traveling through spacetime slows local time for the traveling object. (of course, that is according to Einstein)...

    • @mcgeemcgoo My brain isn't working correctly right now, nor am I an expert on it, so I should not respond yet. I need to do more work.
