    • @MrG

According to Assad, he is fighting against criminal thugs and takfiri al-qaeda salafis. So why should he need to use thousands of tanks, jets, helicopters, artillery and missiles?

He uses these weapons because the air is getting tight for him.
And he is using them on tight urban civilian areas. If the Syrian people all loved assad, they'd use ground forces and the losses in the Assad army could be replenished by the people. But in this case, everyone hates assad. Especially those who hav More..

    • Replenished by the people? Many of the civilians in these population centres have fled for the borders, large concentrations of armed and mainly foreign terrorist gangs are taking over sections of each town/city easiest accessable to them, forcing the government to fight them in the towns and cities, largely taking away the governments advantage of heavy weapons and also provides a propaganda purpose to encourage foreign intervention and justification for assistance when civilians are killed by More..

    • @MurkyFogsFutureLogs

1st of all, you said there is a large concentration of armed and mainly foreign terrorist gangs. That is wrong. The overwhelming majority are syrians. Most of those ex-SAA soldiers and officers.

2nd of all, everyone said the christians in Egypt would get wiped out if Mursi the Muslim Brotherhood member were to be elected. He got elected. Nothing changed.

And finally, the syrian army had absolutely no rebel opposition during the first few months of the uprising. The reaso More..

Produced past the Soviet era, and modified into the attack role. Their follow-on which looks the same is the L-159, which I don't think is in Syria.

  • If an A10 swooped down firing on your neighborhood: would you call that a policing action against rebels or would call that a civil war?

Syria is in the midst of civil war. All parties, including Russia and China should cut off military aid until the bloodshed stops.

  • This is a sectarian war, and neither side can back down. From the government's side, they're either losing their grip or they're holding back so as not to be seen to be too heavy handed in the eyes of the 'International Community', who for some reason are supporting the rebels.
